Dietetics
At LEO, my everyday life is part of the plan.
Nutrition plays a role in many conditions, from heartburn to diabetes. Our registered dietitian Katharina Kaltenegger looks with you at what you eat, what your daily life looks like and what can realistically change. For our patients, the consultation is covered by public health insurance.
What does a dietician do?
In Austria, dietetics is a regulated health profession that requires a bachelor's degree from a university of applied sciences. Dietitians advise people for whom nutrition is part of their treatment, working closely with doctors. At LEO, your doctor and the dietitian are under one roof.
When we can help
Food intolerances and allergies, e.g. lactose or fructose intolerance
Overweight and obesity: support with weight loss
Gastrointestinal conditions, e.g. heartburn (reflux), digestive problems, inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis
Metabolic disorders, e.g. diabetes, raised cholesterol and blood lipids, gout (raised uric acid)
Malnutrition and unintentional weight loss
Women's health, e.g. PCOS, endometriosis, nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Eating disorders, e.g. anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, in close coordination with your doctor
How the consultation works
At your first appointment, you tell our dietitian how you eat, work and live, and discuss what you'd like to achieve. Together you work out concrete steps for your everyday life. At follow-up appointments, you review together what's working and what isn't.
Appointment and costs
For our patients, the consultation is covered by health insurance. You can book the appointment in consultation with your doctor.
Please bring: e-Card, current findings and laboratory values, as well as a list of your medications.
Schedule an appointment
The first step is a consultation with your doctor. Together, we will discuss your concerns and then arrange an appointment with our dietician. Please book a doctor's visit for this. If you are visiting us for the first time, please select "New patient".
